This tour takes us to Pellumbas village, known for its Black Cave, one of the biggest caves found in Albania. It lies on Peshkashesh Mountain which rises on the south side of Erzeni River canyon. The cave, which has only one entry, is 360 meters long, 10-15 meters wide, 15-45 meters high. The interior offers a unique combination of thousand years old stalactites and stalagmites scattered through the whole length of it. The cave is found close to 500 m from the sea level.
On this trip we walk towards the cave, visit its interior and continue our walk down towards the river canyon. The trail to the cave is about 3 km one way, presenting a challenging and rocky terrain along the edge of the mountain with minor elevation gains up to 350m. From the Cave towards the canyon we descent approximately the same elevation to reach Erzeni River bed. The steep stretch is challenging on balance and on runs into the risk of sliding. Only experience and confident people used to the outdoors will be ok with this steep descent. Though there is a trail, the very soft terrain does not support it so this becomes quite tiresome for the 30-40 minutes time we would complete this intense descent.
NOTE:
Depending on the group's condition the guide will decide the best route to take to Erzeni River Canyons. Swimming in the cold river waters will be a great reward on a hot day.
What to Bring: Hiking shoes, water shoes, bathing suit, sunscreen, hat, poles if you have them. Please also have with you some snacks: dried fruits, nuts, fresh fruit. Some natural sugar in your snacks will help your energy levels. Must have 1.5 liters of water with you! Take a sandwich with you for a picnic by the river. A cold drink can be consumed at the village bar to contribute to the locals. (Drinks are at your own cost).

One of the most impressive canyon hikes I ever made. Swim in azur blue Erzeni river water (unless after heavy rainfall). Walk in a long and cool cave with stalagmites. Terrain partly challenging, but everyone richly rewarded by stunning views of lush forest hills.
