We start our trail with a 300 m climb towards Ndroq fortress aka Varosh and on the way we'll be greeted by centuries old olive trees. Some of olives around Ndroq are 2000-2500 years old, though the oldest are found in the vicinity of Mt. Dajti and Tujan village. These old trees have gone through and survived several climate changes. Views as far as the Adriatic sea accompany us throughout this trail. The fortress belongs to the fourth century AD, and has been part of the defense system of the city of Durres, communicating also with Tirana fortifications of Dorëzi and Petrelë. Upon the return back to Ndroq we will drive towards Abaia Winery & Vineyard for some food, Shesh i zi wine and local hospitality.

Technical Info: This walk is considered easy in terms of hiking, but it is a good length covering approximately 12 km with an accumulative elevation of 550 m and a duration of approximately 5.5 hours including breaks. Please have enough snacks & a small sandwich with you as the lunch at the winery will be late, approximately 2pm.

What to Bring: Hiking shoes, a wind jacket, a warm layer, sunscreen, hat, poles if you have them. Please also have with you some snacks: dried fruits, nuts, fresh fruit. Must have 1.5 liters of water with you!
