Mali me Gropa is one of the rare karst phenomena in Albania and one of the rarest in Europe, in terms of size and extent. This mountain got its name from its upper surface, which is filled with karstic pits, which were formed by the digestion of limestone in the ice age. This mountain marks the start of several streams that cross the district of Tirana. Selita spring is supplied with water from this mountain. Its highest point reaches 1847m which is also called the peak of Mcek (also known as Micek).

We will start our hike from Shenmeri at about 800m from sea level and enjoy a gradual uphill to the first stop point at an old shepherd's hut achieving the first 700m of elevation. Here part of the group can stop and rest and whoever wants to reach the peak will continue for another 290m of additional elevation. Total elevation to the peak is 990m. The total length is 13km. We have mixed terrain on this hike partially soft and partial rocky.

Please bring a small sandwich for picnic as we will lunch at end of our hike in ShenMeri.

What to Bring: Hiking shoes, a wind jacket, sunscreen, hat, poles if you have them. Please also have with you some snacks: dried fruits, nuts, fresh fruit. Must have 1.5-2 liters of water with you!
