This weekend takes us to Permet, located in South Albania. This area is home to Nermercka Mountain Range; beautiful river Viosa – one of the last natural rivers of Europe; Benje Natural Thermal baths; Benje Village – a historically protected site, with homes over 200 years old & a unique church; culinary specialties which we will get to visit and experience.
Friday – we leave Tirana and drive for about 4 hours to reach our destination. We meet Elona & Majid, our hosts and get settled at our shared accommodations and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared with local ingredients. Saturday – after a country breakfast we will start our hike and spend most of the day outdoors, including lunch, which will be something Elona would prepare to take with us. We will explore the area and return back to the farm in the afternoon and proceed with much-deserved rest time. You will then have some free time to either read or walk and explore the farm or simply rest some more. Dinner will be served by our hosts always consisting of local ingredients and traditional recipes.
Sunday – after breakfast we will leave the farm to further explore the area. Our day will take us to Benje Historical Village with a short cultural tour, Benje Thermal Baths – where we will walk Lengarica Canyon as well as enjoy the baths, and lastly, we will visit the town of Permet – where we will have our lunch before starting our journey back to Tirana.
What to Bring: Hiking Shoes as both days we will be active with walks / hikes. Please have a rain/wind jacket with you & a warm layer in case of weather changes. The usual necessities like: sun screen, hat, water bottles & poles if you have them. Also, bring a towel & bathing suite (& water shoes) for the natural baths.
