This weekend takes us to Llogara Pass, part of the Ceraunian Mountains, a Coastal Mountain Range in Southwest Albania. Llogara pass sits at 1027 m from the sea level and it divides these mountains into the Caraburun Peninsula wing, which in itself serves as the border between Adriatic and the Ionian Sea. Llogara is a National Park spanning on a surface of 1010 ha, part of Vlore County. The park’s terrain includes alpine meadows, sharp rock faces, precipices, and dense forests of pine, oak, and fir trees. Due to its terrain, Llogara Pass is famous for its amazing views of the Ionian Sea and coastline.

We stay Friday night at a traditional guest house at Llogara pass, anticipating our hike on Saturday. This is a moderate hike towards “Qafa e Thelle”, about 600 m elevation, covering about 12 km distance. Our picnic lunch will be on the mountain enjoying the natural setting. After the hike, we travel towards the coastal village of Qeparo and get settled at our guest house by the beach.

Sunday morning you have the option to either walk towards the old Village of Qeparo; a three-hour venture with a stop at the village cafe, or to enjoy a restful half-day at the beach before starting our return to Tirana in the afternoon. This weekend gives you an idea of what our south coast has to offer, so you can plan for a longer stay in the future.

What to Bring: Hiking Shoes and Walking shoes (optional), flip-flops for the beach, as both days we will be active with walks/hikes. Please have a rain/wind jacket with you in case of weather changes and a warm layer for Llogara; The usual hiking necessities like sunscreen, hat, water bottles & poles if you have them.
